Students may schedule an Initial Consultation appointment to meet with a counselor to discuss their concerns and to develop an initial plan for addressing them. This appointment is scheduled for 45 minutes, and follow-up appointments may be scheduled as necessary. During the meeting, the counselor helps the student consider a range of resources and services that may be appropriate, such as participation in one of our Life Skills Workshops, self-help resources, individual, group, or couple's counseling, and/or a referral to services offered elsewhere.  If you would like an appointment for an initial consultation, please come by our office on the second floor of the Student Services building (Flag Building) between 8:00 am and 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, and allow about 30 minutes to complete paperwork (we close at 5:00 pm).

For students who are uneasy about counseling, Dr. Kimber Shelton addresses some of the barriers to counseling in this short video.
