Students may schedule an Initial Consultation appointment to meet with a counselor to discuss their concerns and to develop an initial plan for addressing them. This appointment is scheduled for 45 minutes, and follow-up appointments may be scheduled as necessary. During the meeting, the counselor helps the student consider a range of resources and services that may be appropriate, such as participation in one of our Life Skills Workshops, self-help resources, individual, group, or couple's counseling, and/or a referral to services offered elsewhere. 

If you would like an appointment for an initial consultation, please come by our office on the second floor of the Student Services building (Flag Building) between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday, and allow about 30 minutes to complete the initial information forms. If you are a new client or a returning client who has not been seen in the last six months, you will need to complete the initial information forms. The last time to begin new initial information forms is 4:15 pm. The Center closes at 5:00 pm.

Students in crisis may speak with a counselor at any time 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. During our regular business hours (Monday-Friday 8-5), students may call 404-894-2575 or drop by the Center. After hours, students may access the Counselor On-Call by calling 404-894-2575.

Students who are experiencing an immediate life threatening emergency should call 911 or, if on campus, call the Georgia Tech Campus Police at 404-894-2500.
